Goutam Narayan Ghosh, former Deputy Legal Advisor, Enforcement Directorate, has dealt with various important money-laundering offence cases on behalf of the ED during his Government service, including the Coal Block cases, 2G Spectrum cases. When he was posted in Northern Region, Chandigarh, he closely monitored several high-profile money-laundering cases involving international and domestic drug cartels which was connected with senior police officer and former Minister/MLAs etc. Due to his exceptional contribution, the ED secured large number of convictions against the drug syndicate as a result achieved the confiscation of properties worth thousands of crores. He also served in the Competition Commission of India as Deputy Director General (Investigation), and dealt with several important cases related to cartel and dominance issue, making him a rare blend of officer with hybrid experience in investigation and prosecution. He initially enrolled in the Bar Council of West Bengal in the year 1990 and after seven years of practice joined the legal wing of the Government, achieving 32 years of experience in administering various laws, including the Companies Act as Company Prosecutor in Department of Corporate Affairs and later as Deputy Registrar in CESTAT.
